Eddie rarely knows anything about what's going on. His gray eyes are glazed over, glassy with unshed tears, far away. He has been staring out the window he's sitting next to for the past hour, it feels like, and he can't help but feel a complex twist of elation and terror. He has absolutely no clue what is going on, but he does know he has always wanted to ride a train before.
He's sitting across from Peeta, his arms folded in his lap, his right prosthetic arm on top, fingers twitching now and then. He's so used to being invisible to anyone and everyone that he doesn't realize the guy is talking to him until that awkward pause after where Eddie's supposed to respond.
He blinks back his tears, a stray one leaking out that he quickly wipes away. He looks across from him, blinking a few more times, shifting to sit up straighter.
"What?" Yeah, good job Eddie. He takes a second, trying to process what the guy had actually said. Right. Where are we.
"I'm...I'm sorry. I don't know," Eddie admits freely, looking back out the window, actually paying attention to the surroundings. They didn't feel that foreign to him. "We're..."
There was something at the edge of his mind, valuable information that he just couldn't seem to reach. He frowns, looking back at the other guy.
"...I really don't know. I'm sorry. I um...I don't have the best memory on a good day. Today's not a good day, I guess. I might have missed my stop too."
